COSSIE DIVES IN: MATCHESFASHION BEACHWEAR BUYER

How did you get into buying + what do you love most about working at MATCHESFASHION?

I studied Economics at University but was always drawn to fashion. When I moved to London, I decided to pursue a career in that industry. I jumped from internship to internship from PR to Editorial and then freelance styling assistant work. I realised that as much as I loved fashion, I did miss the business minded + numbers side of economics. Buying was the perfect mix of both and I was lucky enough to secure a Buying Assistant role from an internship.

I started at MATCHESFASHION just before the pandemic. I love the passion for the discovery of new brands that we have. The whole team is so focused on creating an exciting offer for our customers + we as buyers love bringing on and working with interesting new brands. We also have such a great team, full of drive and exciting ideas which is really inspiring!

What Resortwear trends are you excited about for SS23?

Pink is a major colour trend we are seeing come through Resort across RTW & Swim. We are also seeing a strong trend towards functionality and versatility. A summer dress you can dress up or down or swimwear which can be worn as RTW.

MATCHESFASHION has always really supported small brands + very much championed COSSIE+CO when we were new to the swimwear scene. How do you know when something is going to resonate with your customer?

We really pride ourselves on knowing our customers well and understanding their needs. Our customer loves the "Journey of Discovery."

It’s exciting for us as a global retailer to be the first to introduce them to new brands and to see the positive reaction and strong engagement that they have.

Tell us about the summer must-haves you can't be without on a beach holiday?

It goes without saying that a swimsuit is a must on holiday! I think everyone should have a go-to, that makes them feel confident. An easy coverup after the beach is also a must. A really nice dress or kaftan you can throw on after the beach to head to town or the bar. And last but not least, sunscreen!

All our COSSIE’S are designed with different customers in mind, which style appeals to you most from the Resort collection + why?

From Resort, I’m really looking forward to COSSIE+CO’S new print, the POPPY in Summer Meadow. It is so beautiful!

I’m also so excited for the NIKKI in blew with that touch of floral to come in, in February. The shape is so flattering on so many different bodies. It’s in a lovely blue colour which I think is so DNA to COSSIE's past colourful collections. And the cherry on top, it has that fashion element in the floral print ties.
